In a highly provocative letter that infringes upon the First Amendment, Spotsylvania County School Board Chair Marxist Megan Jackson issued Shamgar Connors a no trespass order. Connors, a frequent speaker at school board meetings, expresses his grievances against the school board in a creative way to attract attention. Connors has spoken about major issues including the coverup of child abuse issues, racism by the Superintendent, and the coverup of the recent Miguel Velasco Velasquez child XXX scandal.
The no trespass order is clear retaliation against Shamgar Connors shedding light on these issues. Spotsylvania County Schools cannot engage in viewpoint discrimination or control the manner by which Connors expresses himself. There is no right to not be offended as that would be a subjective standard.
The best defense against free speech one disagrees with is better speech instead of the censorship of speech. Jackson could not counter free speech with better speech. Jackson simply censored the free speech because she has no defense on the coverup of the child abuse scandals !
It’s disappointing to see our tax dollars continually wasted because of her inability to conduct herself professionally. Even if a speaker’s delivery is a little animated or “extra,” he still has every right to express his beliefs — that’s what free speech is all about, even when others disagree. If she ends up getting sued, it’s the taxpayers who will once again foot the bill. This kind of behavior is a disservice to our community and an embarrassment to Spotsylvania County schools and the voters she represents. For the good of the district, she should step down immediately.
