Grampp Fails to Take a Stand, Part 1

Berkeley School Board Member Erin Grampp has a history of not taking a decisive stand on an issue. In an email exchange between Grampp and a constituent on August 10, Grampp states the following with regards to parental choice:

“I completely understand your frustration and am encouraging parents to find an attorney to do a class action suit against the state. It would be a quick and easy answer to a divisive issue”

Virginia State Law 1-240.1 states the following: “A parent has a fundamental right to make decisions concerning the upbringing, education, and care of the parent’s child.” Here is the link to the actual state law: https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title1/chapter2.1/section1-240.1/

Grampp fails to mention the existence of 1-240.1 that gives parents authority over their children. Grampp also fails to mention that the ultimate authority on who inteprets the law is the court system. We suspect that the school division will face legal action from one side or another. Why not take a stand instead of passing the buck like a typical politician ?
