Here is an interesting picture of former school board political candidate Rich Lieberman (wearing red) engaging with the attorney for Makalia Keyes at a recent school board meeting. Is there a connection between them?
Dirty Uncle Rich’s Harassment
Former school board candidate Rich Lieberman decided to harass some members of the audience at the March 7 school board meeting. Since a school board meeting is a public forum, it is perfectly legal to video record. Afterall, Mr Lieberman has video recorded the audience in the past. When a camera was focused on Lieberman, Lieberman engaged in harassment. A law enforcement officer instructed Lieberman to stop the harassment. Below is the dialog and video.
Lieberman: “If you want to video me, I will get closer to you”
Young lady off camera: “You are making me feel uncomfortable”.
Lieberman: “He is making me feel uncomfortable”

At the end of the school board meeting, Lieberman attempted to closely follow school board member Lisa Phelps as she was leaving the parking lot. We have several witnesses that confirm this story
January 18 Public Comments, Part 3
At the January 18 school board meeting, an adult confronted former school board candidate Rich Lieberman about allegedly taking pictures of a minor. The school board video feed captured part of this confrontation.
Mr. Lieberman has made misogynistic, sexist, and degrading statements towards women on social media in the past. This is cause for concern, so we looked into this further. We found moments during public comment at the school board meeting where Lieberman appears to glance or stare at the backside of the female speakers. In the video clip below, we show these moments. All the video clips come from public comments during a school board public meeting. The video is public information available publicly on the school board website.
For those not familiar with Mr. Lieberman’s past behavior, we include links to past Spotsy Wire articles. Lieberman has admitted to posting misogynistic statements on social media including in a Free-Lance star article. We find it interesting that the Spotsylvania Educational Association (SEA) formed an alliance with Lieberman for the rally at the January 18 school board meeting. Why would SEA want to form an alliance with an individual that holds these degrading views?

Lieberman is not an Independent
Spotsylvania County School Board Candidate Richard Lieberman claims that he is an Independent. However, Mr. Lieberman routinely forms alliances with democrats such as Nicole Cole, Todd Rump, Baron Braswell, and Erin Grampp that show he is clearly not an Independent. Below is a picture showing Lieberman’s campaign signs at Nicole Cole’s tent in the parking lot outside the early voting polling station on October 23. Nicole Cole, the Battlefield District candidate for school board, was endorsed by the Progressive Voters Guide, a group that supports democrats. In the second picture, Nicole Cole shows her support for Lieberman and Grampp. Grampp is also endorsed by the Progressive Voters Guide.
Creepy Rich Lieberman Posts
Spotsylvania County School Board candidate Rich Lieberman has another creepy post. There are a lot of 17 and 18 year olds that are in high school. This is why we find it creepy when a man in his 50s who is running for school board says to a 17 year old “you are very attractive” or “talk to me when you were 18”.

Lieberman runs companies called “Leader in Sports” and “Memorabilia Advertising”. He used the modelmayhem website to recruit models for photo shoots. Lieberman did openly admit that he made misogynistic social media posts in a Free Lance Star article this past August. We have seen misogynistic social media posts as recent as 2020 to as early as 2009.
Braswell & Shelley’s School Policy Violations and the FOIA Scandal
The Spotsy Wire continues to dig into the FOIA scandal involving School Board Chair Dawn Shelley and Rich Lieberman. We created another video to better explain the back story that we have uncovered in the last 24 hours. This video is long because we want to ensure our readers fully understand the details on what is occurring behind the scenes in the school division.
There is a school board policy, BG-R, that governs the interaction between the school board and administration. This is directly relevant to the Shelley/Lieberman FOIA scandal. The BG-R policy is a way of controlling board members in the minority. It restricts what school board members can do. Shelley, Grampp, and Braswell voted in favor of the BG-R policy despite repeatedly violating the policy. Below is the timeline of events in our video.
0:00 – At the 2/25/2019 school board meeting, Baron Braswell talks about the BG-R policy governing interaction between the school administration and school board.
1:57 – On Mr. Lieberman’s 9/15 Facebook video, Lieberman divulges email exchanges between him and Ms. Phelps that occurred in February 2021.
2:23 – At the 2/25/2019 school board meeting, Braswell and Phelps discuss the process when a constituent contacts a school board member pertaining to the BG-R policy.
4:39 – At the 2/25/2019 school board meeting, Braswell discusses what happens when individuals send emails to the entire school board with the BG-R policy. Take note of this statement – “when we allow ourselves to get too deep in the weeds, we have to recuse ourselves from the action”
6:01 – On Mr. Lieberman’s 9/15 Facebook video, Lieberman reads the email he sent to all school board members. Per BG-R policy, the email must be addressed by the chair (Shelley) and sent to the superintendent. Lieberman makes a hypocritical statement when he says, “we feel violated that you need to know word for word”. This is hypocritical when Lieberman advocates transparency.
8:50 – On Mr. Lieberman’s 9/15 Facebook video, Lieberman confirms Phelps followed the BG-R policy. Remember, BG-R policy requires school board members to refrain from involvement on matters that are addressed by the superintendent.
9:45 – On Mr. Lieberman’s 9/15 Facebook video, Lieberman confirms that he and Braswell talked extensively. Braswell violated the BG-R policy by having extensive interaction with Mr. Lieberman.
10:00 – At the 2/25/2019 school board meeting, Grampp confirms the validity of the BG-R policy pertaining to school board member and superintendent interaction. We suspect Lieberman would disagree.
11:58 –At the 2/25/2019 school board meeting, Shelley confirms the validity of the BG-R policy pertaining to school board member and superintendent interaction. We suspect Lieberman would disagree. Shelley states “I am not the middleman……as school board members, we do not deal with day-to-day operations of school division”. Yet with the FOIA scandal, Shelley violates the BG-R policy by getting involved in the day-to-day operations of the FOIA process.
14:30 – On Mr. Lieberman’s 9/15 Facebook video, Lieberman clearly does not understand the BG-R policy. When an email is sent to the entire board, the chairperson (Shelley) should have forwarded onto the superintendent.
15:15 – On Mr. Lieberman’s 9/15 Facebook video, Lieberman confirms that the superintendent and Braswell purposely excluded Phelps from involvement on the matter. Braswell is extensively involved at this point which is another violation of BG-R policy.
15:43 – At the 2/25/2019 school board meeting, Braswell states “we can’t present a perceived form of undue influence………if an employee believes that we unduly influenced a matter they were involved then there would be retribution against this board”
18:53 – At the 2/25/2019 school board meeting, Twigg is against the limitations imposed on the school board by the BG-R policy.
20:29 – At the 3/11/2019 school board meeting, Braswell is adamant that administration staff handle administrative items.
22:51 – Motion on floor to approve the BG-R Policy. VOTE 5-2 in favor of BG-R Policy. Shelley, Grampp, Braswell vote in favor of this policy that they routinely violate.
Lieberman Responds to his own Scandal…as a typical Politician !
Spotsylvania County School Board Candidate Rich Lieberman continues to be embroiled in scandal. Recently, someone has placed small signs next to Mr. Lieberman’s campaign signs around Spotsylvania County. The small signage has an arrow pointing to Mr. Lieberman’s campaign sign with a single word – “pervert”.
Since 2009, Mr. Lieberman has written many misogynistic posts on social media and on various websites. Many people have expressed concerns including in the comments section of our Facebook page. Mr. Lieberman has responded to his misogynistic posts by playing politics thru deflection and minimization of his behavior on his Facebook posts. Mr. Lieberman takes no responsibility on the severity of behavior. Instead, he attempts to deflect by blaming his opponent. He also attempts to reframe the issue by portraying himself as the “victim” for his poor behavior. These are the actions of a politician. This goes contrary to his campaign slogan of “Kids not politics”.
Lieberman Scandal Grows, Free Lance Star complicit in the scandal
The Rich Lieberman scandal has grown again. Now, the Free Lance Star is complicit in the scandal. The Free Lance Star wrote an article that portrayed Spotsylvania County School Board candidate Rich Lieberman in a positive light despite his inappropriate behavior on social media. The Free Lance Star did not bother to report the details on Mr. Lieberman’s inappropriate behavior. The article, written by Adele Uphaus, is a prop up piece for Mr. Lieberman to try and salvage his campaign running for school board.
Since the Free Lance Star won’t report the details of Mr. Lieberman’s inappropriate behavior, we will provide you with the details we reported earlier. Before you read another sentence, we would like to warn you that reader discretion is advised. Some examples of Mr. Lieberman’s inappropriate social media statements are below:
- “I told every woman I got serious with if they don’t hit me, I won’t hit them. If they hit me, I hit back”
- “All women should be buck neeked, barefoot in the kitchen with a beer in arm’s reach at all times for her mans”
- “If she snorts drugs, I wonder how her s*ck swall** skills are???? Asking for a friend”
In summary, these statements talk about hitting women, degrading women, or discuss sexual acts. The Free Lance Star is complicit in accepting his behavior because they fail to report any details on the central issue of why Mr. Lieberman is apologizing. It is clear that Mr. Lieberman posts on social media are sexist, misogynistic, and degrading to women.
The Free Lance Star also makes a claim without evidence that “Lieberman’s posts on the Facebook page…….were circulated over the weekend by supporters of his opponent”. That is false information. If the Free Lance Star bothered to do any research, they would know that The Spotsy Wire was the first to report on the Rich Lieberman scandal back on July 25. Other social media outlets have posted similar stories since then. The inappropriate social media posts by Mr. Lieberman go as far back as 2009 and were on many different websites. They are all over the internet and it takes very little effort to find them.

Spotsylvania county school board candidate Rich Lieberman owns a business that utilizes young women in semi-nude poses to advertise his products. His business is known as “Leader in Sports” or “Memorabilia Advertising”. He utilizes the Model Mayhem website to recruit women for photographs. Mr. Lieberman objectifies women by commenting on a women’s physical appearance in addition to discussing nudes and bikinis.
